Season's Greetings from ProspectaBase

This Christmas, rather than sending cards and gifts, ProspectaBase is once again supporting a charity. In 2022 we have chosen Katharine House Hospice (KHH), which provides free, end of life, specialist, palliative care for adults with life-limiting conditions across North Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire.

Care given by the hospice is for anyone over the age of 18 years who has an advanced life-limiting illness. At Katharine House, the care is delivered by a multi-professional team who are specialised in this field and take a holistic approach, considering physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

KHH also recognises the importance of family and friends and how they are also affected and appreciates they may have lots of concerns and questions that the charity can answer and support.

Katharine House cares for its patients through a wide range of services:

  • Inpatient services

  • Community services

  • Living Well services; designed to enhance wellbeing

  • Hospital support

  • Bereavement support

Since April 2021 KHH has been in partnership with the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), which means that the management of its clinical services has been transferred to the Trust. This brings a number of advantages, listed below:

  • KHH is able to protect the services it provides to the community

  • KHH continues to be there when people need them most, providing care when it is required, where it is required, be that in the hospice, at home or in hospital

  • KHH can remain at Katharine House, its home for the past 30 years

  • Patients and families will notice no difference in how care is delivered

  • The KHH Living Well service will continue

Despite this partnership, fundraising is still vital, which is where we hope to make a difference this year. More than ever, KHH desperately needs the help of the community to ensure its vital services continue. On top of the funding provided by the partnership with OUH, KHH still needs to meet more than 50% of the clinical staff costs and relies on donations and the support of the community to fund additional services and activities. For example, physiotherapy, social work, well-being relaxation classes, specially made home cooked meals, one-to-one social care, bereavement support, arts, and crafts, and most importantly, fun and laughter.

The hospice literally couldn’t keep going without its wonderful network of supporters. It wouldn’t exist without the donations given, the money raised, and the support provided by the community.

It’s with this in mind that ProspectaBase wants to make a difference and to support this vital community resource. We are donating our Christmas budget, which would otherwise have been spent on cards, gifts, and postage to help ensure that Katharine House Hospice can continue to bring love, care, support – and even a little joy – to its terminally ill patients.

Should you wish to join us in supporting this much needed cause, you can donate here.

Alternatively, visit the KHH Christmas shop to stock up on Christmas cards.

Wishing you all a very happy festive season from everyone at ProspectaBase.
